Chocoholics Claimed

A place where chocolatey goodness never stops!

Average Reviews

If you were a fan of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and imagined yourself winning one of those golden tickets and being able to devour all the chocolate you want, then you qualify as a true “chocoholic”. What if you could have all the chocolate you wanted in any form or shape, at any time of night or day? Sounds like a dream come true? Well, it is since Chocoholics opened their doors at Havelock Town.

The café that as its name suggests quite literally serves anything and everything with chocolate. To be fair they have fresh fruit smoothies and stuff if you happen to drop by with someone who doesn’t like chocolate. But since we absolutely love it we ordered everything with chocolate.

You can’t miss Chocoholics if you take the road that connects W A de Silva Mawatha and Havelock Road. The only downside is that parking is a bit of an issue since the café is by the roadside. Once you do get in though the smell of warm chocolate itself is enough to make you forget all the troubles in the world. The interior is done up to keep with the chocolate brown theme and has a whole cozy feel to it.

Also keeping with the theme, the staff are super friendly and warm which we know is lacking in quite a few of the establishments we visit. They know their chocolate history, where their coco beans come from and how everything is made so it’s nice to have a chat while placing your orders. The menu is actually quite extensive with crepes, waffles, and pancakes with a plethora of toppings and fillings, fondues, brownies and every other chocolate dessert you can imagine. We ordered a Krispy Crepe, a Chocoholic Classic Waffle, a Chocoholics Stack and a Sushi Crepe. The Krispy Crepe is stuffed with strawberries, coco pops and topped with Chocolate Sauce, while the waffle is also served with Vanilla Ice Cream, Strawberries and Chocolate. While the crepe is soft and the coco pops make it super crunchy the waffle was lights and gooey once mixed with the ice cream and chocolate sauce. If you prefer fluffy pancakes with lots of Chocolate topping then the Chocoholics Stack would be ideal for you. The interestingly named Sushi Crepe is basically kiwi, strawberry, and coco pops rolled in a crepe in sushi form which was quite divine. We probably will give this one top marks out of the food.

One other menu item you must try is what Chocoholics call a “Treat”. It’s basically Chocolate Ice-Cubes with a Double Shot of Espresso and Warm Milk. Now this is not for the faint-hearted and certainly not for kids. One shot of this and we were bouncing off the walls so unless you can really deal with it do not try! It kind of first hits your head and then your taste buds so you get the gist.

Everything at Chocoholic is made with pure Belgian Chocolate which is all the more reason to visit them. Try them out this weekend as the world celebrates Chocolate Day…
