Description

Coco Veranda (Nawala)

From its familiar locations in and around the capital, Coco Veranda has now branched out to open up a new branch in Nawala. This is good news for everyone living around that area as you don’t have to travel into Colombo to grab a coffee and a slice of cake!

Coco Veranda has built a stable network of loyal customers over time and many visit the café everyday due to their good customer service. By experiencing this customer service firsthand, we can tell you that these guys have won the hearts of the customers who walk into their establishment.

The ambience of the place is nice, calm and when you walk in the smell of warm coffee hits you. There are two sections with seating arrangements as they have seating both inside and outside (plus there is a little garden if you like enjoying a bit of green and nature!). Nawala is definitely more spacious than Ward Place but by evening it gets a bit crowded as people come in for a cup of coffee or to catch up with friends after work.

The menu at Coco Veranda gives their customers a lot of variety to choose from. Their drinks menu is quite impressive as there is so much to choose from so we settled for three drinks, their take on the Cappuccino, a Crème Brulee Latte and their Signature Latte, 7th Heaven.

Being a three-time consecutive winner of the Barista Competition in Sri Lanka, Coco Veranda had set the expectations high on their drinks. The Cappuccino was really good and there was a perfect balance of milky coffee and froth. The Crème Brulee Latte was quite an interesting item on the menu and we were curious to try it. This Vanilla flavored latte has a hint of Caramel to mimic the crusty caramelized toffee on top of the smooth vanilla custard that you get on the dessert. The 7th Heaven is one of their signature drinks which was invented for one of the Barista Competitions and it really did give us a peek at what heaven maybe like! This drink is all about the layers. It’s got everything from coffee to whipped cream, caramel, chocolate shavings and even rainbow sprinkles. All the drinks were served in quite large glasses and they were quite filling thus a great value for money!

As we were quite filled up after having all those delicious drinks, we were only able to order one burger off their food menu. The Big Friendly Burger certainly lives up to its name in terms of its size! It was so big that we had to cut it in half to actually eat it and it was definitely a challenge to take down this friendly delicious giant! The chicken burger patty was quite juicy and flavorful and it had us stuffed by the end of the meal!

Coco Veranda has proved to be a nice cozy place to have a good coffee and they offer quite affordable and generous plates of food. Also don’t forget to check out their desserts and cakes which would be displayed near the cashier!
