LeeSH Sandwich Bar

Tucked on the side of High Level Road right next to Glitz, is a small sandwich shop, LeeSH. Don’t be fooled because LeeSH has been in business for almost seven years now and it’s been run by this lovely couple from day one. LeeSH has been around for long enough to build a loyal customer base and it’s mostly kids coming to grab a bite after tuition classes or someone dashing back home after work.

The theme of green is very prominent throughout the entire cafe space. It’s quite a small place but it gives a very homely vibe and we kind of liked it a lot. LeeSH started after the owners fell in love with Japan and the cuisine over there and they opened up their own little place to share their love of food. LeeSH started off as a sandwich bar and food mart and they were one of the first establishments to have a mini mart inside a food establishment. But now they have stopped that operation and focus solely on the Sandwich bar. As I said before, it’s a really homely place with cute wall art and wooden furniture and even a random guitar for anyone to pick up and have a spontaneous Jam session!

The menu at LeeSh is mostly sandwiches, burgers and also paninis. LeeSh was one of the first places to introduce the Panini to Colombo and they have been serving them up ever since.

LeeSH also offers a few beverages and we tried out their Iced Coffee and their version of the Cream Soda Float. The iced coffee was nice and thick and pretty strong and our coffee loving taste buds really appreciated that glass of iced coffee. The Cream Soda Float was an interesting drink with the combination of Vanilla Ice Cream and the Cream Soda really blended well together. Topped with another dollop of ice-cream it was fizzy, sweet and creamy, and we really liked it.

Now to the food, we got the Chicken and Cheese Panini and the Teriyaki Burger. The Chicken and Cheese Panini was quite big in portion and it was generous with chicken and cheese. It was cheesy, it was toasted well and it was really a good Panini. It tasted pretty amazing too and the fact that it was fresh and hot was an added bonus.

The Chicken Teriyaki Burger was also pretty tasty. Again LeeSh is generous with their portion sizes and the piece of chicken used in the burger was cooked perfectly. The Teriyaki Sauce used in the burger is actually made in-house and it tasted like actual Teriyaki sauce that you would associate with authentic Japanese food. What we really liked about the burger was the freshness of the addition of the Coleslaw inside the burger and it really brought a nice twist to the flavour profile.

LeeSH is a great spot for a quick snack and the owners are some of the nicest people ever. The only thing which is a little messy is their opening times, they are open all days of the week except Tuesday and they close every day at 2 pm and open again at 5 pm. So be sure to go when they are open to avoid disappointment!
